We connect with our tradition in many ways. One of the most beloved of ways is through our stomachs. On this night choose a family recipe (one that your grandmother used to make) and make that delicious dish together as a family for dinner.
We will attempt to make my great grandmothers recipe for marble cake, not a Hanukkah treat, but a great memory for my mother. Her grandmother made her this fabulous marble cake, when she came over to celebrate Shabbat. She remembers the taste today, but has not had it for many years (She was 12 when her grandmother passed away). She found the receipe in her grandmothers handwriting. I hope we can recreate it and have the marble cake on Shabbat tradition continue.
On the first night of Hanukah, I helped my parents cook one of my family recepies, latkes. Boy! Those latkes were good.
